What is a fanlisting?

"A fanlisting is a place for all the fans of a particular show, movie, actor/actress, singer, etc. to come together and build the biggest listing of people all around the world who are fans of that subject." - thefanlistings.org. A fanlisting is great because, by checking out the member list, you can meet other fans of the Robin Hood Legends!

What are the Robin Hood Legends?

The Robin Hood Legends are tales and stories that have been told for over 800 years, and have been shared and enjoyed by people of all ages. Although a man named Robin Hood really did exist, the tales and legends each have their own twist. You have to choose for yourself which story you want to believe or which one you like best. For me, the most inspiring Robin Hood tale is told by the fantastic author of Jennifer Roberson, in the books Lady of the Forest, and Lady of Sherwood. But not to go in to detail, Robin Hood was the son of an Earl, and was called Sir Robert of Locksley. He went on crusade with King Richard, the Lionheart, and was knighted. He comes back after presumed dead, and meets Lady Marian of Ravenskeep, the daughter of Sir Hugh FitzWalter, the knight whom he was forced to watch being ripped limb from limb. They eventually fall in love, but the Sherrif of Nottingham wants Marian for himself, and does just about anything to take her. Also in the story are such characters as Little John, Brother Tuck, Will Scarlet, Alan of the Dales and Much, the miller's son. Robin, being loyal to the King, and not Prince John, steals money from John to ransom Richard home from inprisonment in Germany. And he does, and then Richard comes home, and then Robin, Marian and their men give the leftover money to the people of Nottingham. That's the basic story, except for much more in between, but you'd have to read the books for that! It's my favourite version of the Robin Hood legends, but there are so many out there. Some better than others; some more realistic than others. You really have to pick and choose. So if you love any of the stories, or any of the characters, please join!

Why is this FL called Sherwood?

The reason I called this Robin Hood Legends fanlisting Sherwood is quite simple, actually! Everybody knows that the tales and legends of Robin Hood mainly took place in Sherwood Forest in England, even if they don't know the details about the legends! So, I decided to call the fanlisting Sherwood! When I say, "Welcome to Sherwood," it sounds much more Robin Hood-ish, rather than calling it something fancy, don't you agree? I plan on visiting Sherwood Forest one day, but until then, this fanlisting will have to be my Sherwood!
